A unique family crest. The brief was:
"We are a bemba (tribe) family and the family emblem would need to incorporate "imiti ikula e'mpanga" which means the trees that make the forest".
We decided to symbolise this further in the crest through the presence of the Baobab tree. The Baobab trees also holds cultural significance in many African societies as they are often the sites of communal gatherings and story telling.
The families animal is an elephant because it represents power, royalty and wisdom. This is portrayed through the elephants holding up the crest with their trunks.
The families core characteristics to live by are: faith, patience, humility and loyalty.
Loyalty is symbolised by the sun rising everyday and patience is that of the Zambezi River, which waters the earth throughout the seasons. The Dove holding a green branch, flying in the sky evokes faith and hope and the seed that sprouts represents humility.
